Dark Funeral: Diabolis interium
08/05/03 || Lord K Philipson
Let’s make this clear from the start: I am the only one worthy of reviewing this album. Now that that’s cleared up, let’s get to it.
“Diabolis Interium” has been out for quite some time now when I review it, but I haven’t been able to put words to my feelings until now. This is one of the harder reviews for me to write actually. All of you should know my passion for these fuckers by now. It’s hard to find the right words, but I’ll try…
I never liked much of what these guys did prior to this album, and I still don’t, but this album people… this fucken album… this muthafucken album… the production, the songs, the insane drumming… I am fucked. I am so fucked you’ll have to wear multiple condoms to approach me.
From the first note to the last, there’s nothing remotely bad on this one. NOTHING. It’s all top-notch, state of the art, the cream of the cake, the last nail in Christ… See where I’m heading? I don’t care if I’m good friends with guitarist Dominion and vocalist Caligula; I was a fan first and didn’t know they were in Dark Funeral when I met them (well, they didn’t wear any corpsepaint so it was hard to tell). Anyways, THIS is what black metal should sound like. Excellent production (as mentioned), an atmosphere that makes Alice DeeJay pale in comparison, etc, etc. And those are strong words coming from your favorite lord.
If you claim to be the least fucken metal and don’t have this one and love the fuck out of it, you should be banned from the Internet and be forced to spend an eternity with christians. If you don’t love this you are simply so fucked it’s not even funny. You do not understand music. And not only that, but I also hate you with every inch of my massive body. You say I can’t hate anyone ‘cause they don’t like Diabolis interium”? You wanna fucken bet?
This album is probably one of the 10 best I ever heard and it’ll take along time before something gets to me like this again.
Dark Funeral is to me what igloos are to Eskimos: Home.
